I want to be a part of it, New York, New York… And step around the heart of it, New York, New York…I wanna wake up in that city, that doesn’t sleep and find Street Art, many many Street Art. A few rewritten lines from Frank Sinatra’s famous song, what a great song and what an Awesome city. It’s April 2023 and the time has finally come, we’re going to the Big Apple.
The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel
It is not the Plaza Hotel but a great base for all major hotspots within walking distance, on the left you walk into Central Park and on the right… you are just a few 100 meters from Times Square. During our taxi ride from JFK I already saw a few thick murals by Eduardo Kobra…. The next morning I woke up early and headed out to 199-123 E 49th St. What a mighty work of art “The Brave of 9/11” and with another beautiful work by Albert Einstein on the other side of the building both by Eduardo Kobra… and that on the first day! That same afternoon we took the metro to Chinatown and Little Italy in search of one of my favorite Steert Art artists… Tristan Eaton. One of the most famous work is Audrey Hepburn’s at 176 Mulberry St. This work is so cool, there is another very nice one a few blocks away, but it seems to be disappearing soon when I read the messages.
High Line
Highly recommended if you are in New York, a nice walk on a high-altitude path between the skyscrapers. Along the way you will also come across a beautiful work by Eduardo Kobra “Mount Rushmore with Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat” (2018). At the end of this High Line you will find Chelsea Market where you can enjoy delicious food. I didn’t have enough time to explore Chelsea completely, but you will certainly find many more cool works there.
And obvious you will see al lot of… FISHES INVASION by Merioone everywhere 🙂 Love this one! More about this Sticker Artist in the Bushwick Blog (NY)
