Blind Walls Gallery Breda

Recently I brought a visit to Breda to see and photograph the amazing “Blind Walls Gallery”. There were Street Art is popping up all over cultural places in many cities, this is an initiative of Graphic Matters and the City of Breda to bring colors to boring and empty walls. How beautiful is that? The city wall around medieval Breda is prominently depicted on the oldest known cityscape from 1520. The city wall was the symbol of freedom, trade and prosperity and gave the city prestige.

Blind Walls Gallery is an open air museum
Since 2015, international artists have been inspired by the past, present and future of the city. You can find the murals throughout and around the city centre. International artists continuously create murals inspired by stories from the city. The collection grows every year. On the website you can download a custom-made app with serval walking routes. Some paintings are no longer visible, because the city is constantly evolving. Lost paintings are still marked separately on the map.

In 2017, Blind Walls Gallery received the Brabant Heritage Prize, for unlocking intangible heritage in a contemporary way.
