Alternative Digbeth, Birmingham

Raw and dirty
Birmingham in a nutshell….A beautiful and attractive city center, but it’s really sad in the suburbs. It just seems like there are no trash cans at all, litter on every squared meter. The reason of my visit to England’s 2nd town was a weekend with friends and visiting Birmingham City vs Millwall. In retrospect, I rather changed our downtown hotel for a hotel in Digbeth. Originally an old district with a large factory, just east of the center. My preliminary research for beautiful graffiti spots brought me here before we went to Norwich for our second football game. It was during the day but there must be vibrant nightlife here. Nice clubs, eateries and a good vibe. Whatever you find in Shoreditch and Camden Town (London) … and of course Street Art.

Hi there Mr. Shelby…
Soon we were greeted by Thomas “Tommy” Shelby from the hit series Peaky Blinders on a large canvas. Beside that beautiful large and small works could be found on this square in Digbeth and adjacent streets. It was a quick visit for a short photo impression but I will come back again.
